This was kind of done as a request. It was just supposed to be another Kelpie image, but I've been given pretty much free reign with the seventeen or so orders for these images. So... another interpretation of the Kelpie by me. This one has no vines or moss, ans nowhere near water, but it still tied to the earth and magic.

The image wasn't intended to look like this originally. Once I got the horse positioned, and realized he was looking almost directly at the plant that stood out in the image, the two had to have a connection.
I love hearing people's interpretations of this. For me, the wispy smoke coming from the plant is life, and the horse is breathing it in and out, giving and taking. For those who see this as fire, well, it almost was fire. I played with the coloring a lot, and orange did not look bad, but the white suited the image better, as well as my vision better.

All in all, this image did not take long to do. I already had the horse and background paired. A lot of retouch work was done on the horse, as I wanted something "pure" and the original horse was a little dirty. Very little was done to the background, just some black layers applied to darken out the foreground and background so the "scene" was in focus.
The smoke took a while. If you look at the original smoke image (cigarette smoke, I believe) it looks nothing like what I have here. Smudging... plus adding in sparkles. <3
